C.S.S Partners With Rotaract Club Of Muthaiga To Give Back To The Community

Last weekend Corporate Staffing Services and the Rotaract Club of Muthaiga came together in a corporate social responsibility event for the students of the John Kaheni residence in Kiambu county.

The John Kaheni residence is a societal integration project for children raised up in the Mother’s Mercy Children’s Home.

This is a temporary home for the students who are in campus and looking for employment opportunities.

Named after a young boy who died of a heart condition in 2014, the John Kaheni residence seeks to foster personal growth, skills and competencies in the youth.

The event was attended by over 30 students in a very interactive and educative 2-hour session.

Having noticed a lack of knowledge regarding the dynamics of the job market, the Rotaract Club of Muthaiga felt our services would greatly impact the young men and women positively.

In a presentation delivered by members of the CV writing and Communications team, the theme revolved around three key areas:

  1. C.V. Writing
  2. Interviewing skills
  3. Networking skills

On CV writing, the students learned a lot about professional CV writing including; overall presentation, how to write a career profile, work experience, education background among others.

The students engaged the teams in many issues regarding professional CV writing and gained useful insights they would use in future when writing CV’s.

On interviewing skills, the students reported that after the session, they would avoid making common mistakes they have been making before and during an interview.

They were all in agreement that the next time they were called for an interview, they would be there on time; perform background research on the company, dress appropriately etc.

On networking skills, the students gained a clear understanding on what networking is and how to effectively network in future.

The students learnt networking skills such as building personal connections, identifying an immediate need and focusing on the other person as well as following through.
