Why Kenyan Employers Need A Recruitment Firm

By Selipha Kihagi

The hiring process is never easy, unless of course a company is hiring internally and already knows who they will be considering for a position. Otherwise, employers will have to endure the difficult process that ends up consuming both the company’s money and time, among others.

While some corporations may have come to terms with this growing need to work with independent recruitment firms in order to increase efficiency, some are yet to grasp what they stand to gain from outsourcing hiring services.

So, why should employers consider working with a recruitment firm?

“Working with a recruitment firm will guarantee the employer efficiency that they could not have otherwise had. And by efficient I mean you will save on time, money and recruitment firms have a larger pool of candidates meaning you will get exactly who you’re looking for,” says Justus Ng’etich, a Recruitment Manager at Corporate Staffing Services.

In addition to saving on time and money, here is what employers stand to gain from working with a recruitment firm;

1. A Recruitment firm understands the job market better

When you may not have hired for a certain position in a long time or are introducing a new position, it would be easy to know what you want but harder to know what is out there. The job market is constantly changing and this is affecting both employers and job seekers alike.

This means that for you to fill a position you’ll have to keep up with the trend. For example, what’s the average market salary? What are the current stakes? A luxury you will not have as an employer, but is required of any recruitment firm.

2. Recruiters help employers focus on getting the best talent

Sometimes when looking to fill positions, employers will give a vague description of what they are looking for. Not because they don’t know what they want, but they are probably following what they previously had. Through a recruitment firm, you will know what is bound to work and what will not.

For example, if as an employer you are seeking candidates with a lot in experience but not matching the salary, you will have a hard time filling the position. Working with a recruitment firm lets you know when you’re being too ambitious.

3. A recruitment firm knows where the best candidates are

You may begin your head hunt with an advertisement in the newspaper or on your Social media platforms. These are usually to a general audience. You will probably receive thousands of applications and in a haste, you might get past the best candidates.

On the other hand, if you tasked a recruitment firm with the hiring process, recruiters know where to get the best candidates. They will also use lesser time to find these candidates, and you (the employer) get to select a suitable candidate from 5 to 10 candidates instead of thousands.

No matter how you look at it, or choose to evaluate the importance of a recruitment firm during the hiring process, as an employer it is a win-win situation. You get to use lesser time, lesser money, and you stay focused in meeting your company’s objectives.
