Just after completing your course in campus and later graduating, the first step is to begin the job search. It is usually the next step if you are not going to start a business immediately or aren’t going back to school to continue your studies. But while it sounds so simple, every job seeker will confess that it is never easy. It is a process full of confusion, frustration and utter chaos, especially when you are not sure which jobs you should be applying for.

Job seekers have written to us over and over wanting to know what jobs are available for their profession. Some of them lucky while others not so. To help you in this journey of discovering what jobs you should be looking out for, here are various professions. 3 Top Professions And Jobs To Lookout For

1. IT profession

Opportunities in the IT field are endless, so if you belong to this category you shouldn’t be too worried but try to focus on your area of specialization. When it comes to getting a job as an IT professional, you have to know if you are good as a developer, an administrator or a problem fixer (otherwise known as a technician).

For those with an interest in creating solutions, jobs to look out for would include Software Developer, Application Developer, Backend Developer, Digital Designer or Web Designer, Programmer and related. They will always have a developer and programming name to them. Those concerned with general IT related issues, your area will be more of administration and include jobs such as IT support Officer/Specialist, Database Administrator, Systems Admin, Network Admin, IT Officer/Specialist/Manager, ICT Officer or Specialist, Operations Manager and related.

For IT professionals with a thrill of mending broken gadgets or fixing problems, jobs to look out for will include all mentioned above but with specifics being IT or ICT Technician, Technologist, Cloud computing & infrastructure and basically anything technical. 2. Accounting professionals

By now you already have an idea of the type of jobs that Accounting professionals should look out for. The most basic will go by the title Accountant or Accounts Assistant. But beyond this, professionals should also apply for anything in the lines of Cost Controller, Debt Collector, Inventory Controller, Credit Controller/Manager, Business Analyst and most analyst positions, Audit positions and some Finance posts.

Professionals with CPA qualifications will always qualify for the above positions; all they will need is to meet the experience required.  And in every industry, an Accountant will be required so do not limit your search to the banking sector.

3. Procurement Professionals

Now, just because you did your bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Purchasing & Supplies or Supply Chain Management or have a diploma qualification in the same does not mean you are tied up to finding posts with Procurement and supply chain in their titles. The number of people searching for this is growing and you might want to take a different approach in finding a job in procurement.

In addition to the usual Procurement or Supply Chain officer/Assistant/Associate and related, lookout for jobs such as Distribution Manager, Stores Clerk/Assistant/manager, Warehouse Assistant/manager, Merchandiser, Vendor specialist/manager, Logistics Coordinator/Officer/Assistant/Manager, Merchant Relations Officer/Assistant, Clearing & Forwarding coordinator and Dispatch Clerk related. While some of these jobs may not appear to be what you are looking for, sometimes it is not the position title that will matter most but the responsibilities of the job.
