First HR Forum: The Inaugural Disrupt to the HR Profession

Perminus Wainaina, the Head of Recruitment and Managing Partner at Corporate Staffing Services was one of the Keynote speakers at the first HR Forum organized by Brighter Monday.  Held on 5th May, 2016, the forum brought together HR experts and professional to discuss about the various HR practices that affect the Human Resource industry in Kenya.

Among the topics of discussion for the day was the quality of hire and its implications in the organizations, office culture with regards to the quality of hire and Hire verification in relation to quality of hire. Employees in Kenya are always asking why they do not get hired into positions they believe they are well qualified and the forum was keen to address this particular predicament from the employer’s perspective.

“As an employer, you must be willing to look at recruitment as a sales process and work to become attractive as a brand so you can attract top talent,” says Perminus in his keynote address. “You have to be clear on the job description and the profile of your ideal employee before you even commence on the recruitment process.”

Talking about office culture, Sarah Richson of Techno Brain Group advised HR professionals and employers to always hire for attitude and mindset first before they can consider hiring for aptitude. “The right attitude will go further than raw skills and attitude,” she said, adding that HR practices are revolutionizing and in so being human resource professional should focus on adapting to innovation.
